About Us

The story of Kayu Living begins with a love for craftsmanship and a passion for design, rooted deep in the cultural aesthetics of Bali and the minimalism of Scandinavia. We saw an opportunity to create something truly unique, to blend these two iconic styles into furniture that's both timeless and genuine. Our journey started from a simple desire to bring these beautifully handcrafted pieces into homes around the world, where each piece tells its own story—crafted lovingly by skilled carpenters, ensuring every product is one-of-a-kind.
Each piece in our collection is carefully handcrafted using sustainable materials sourced directly from Indonesia. This not only supports the local artisans but ensures that each product is built to last, embodying the melding of natural elegance and functionality—a key to the Scandinavian design philosophy.
At Kayu Living, we’re more than just a furniture company. We pride ourselves on creating a brand that champions sustainability, high-quality craftsmanship, and the fusion of distinct, culturally rich design traditions. Our mission is simple yet profound: to enrich every space with furniture that speaks to the heart and the soul, withstanding the test of time both in style and endurance.

Kayu Living

Our goal is to ensure sustainability throughout the entire value chain. We are committed to fair working conditions, sustainable consumption and a circular approach to our resources. We create timeless pieces that tell a story, designed for relaxed living where comfort meets style. Using natural materials, our furniture brings the beauty of the outdoors inside, promoting well-being and serenity.

Supporting Artisans

Our furniture is handcrafted by skilled artisans and carpenters making each product completely unique. We do not engage in mass production, ensuring that each Kayu Living product is entirely distinctive. By choosing handmade over mass-produced alternatives, we contribute to the preservation of traditional craftsmanship and help sustain the livelihoods of these talented individuals.

Sustainable Materials

From the very beginning, we have chosen to work with sustainable materials such as teak, suar wood, natural fibres and rattan. This choice results in products that are the antithesis of the throwaway culture and can be passed down from one generation to the next. Additionally, all the wood used in our production is certified by The FLEGT (Forest Law Enforcement, Governance, and Trade) license for its sustainability.

About FLEGT Certification

The FLEGT (Forest Law Enforcement, Governance, and Trade) license is part of the EU's action plan to promote legal and sustainable timber trade. It ensures that teak and other wood products are legally harvested and processed, supporting responsible forestry practices. By choosing FLEGT-licensed teak furniture, you're supporting sustainable trade and helping to protect our planet’s forests.
